Mogadishu (Cunaabi) Al-shabab militias have arrested students of a well known local cleric in Berdale district of the Bay region.

The militia raided the house of Sheikh Mohamed Roble and arrested eight students who he teaches religious subjects.

The Shabab militias have accused the students and the cleric for preparing to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon him). Some Muslim followers usually observe the annual celebration of the prophet’s birth, on the 12^thday of the third month in the Islamic calendar.

However, Al-shabab militias do not allow the celebrations as some Muslim clerics in the world describe it not in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

Residents of Berdale have raised the concern over the arrests made by the militia.

An Al-shabab official has previously warned area residents not to celebrate the day as they will punish those who do so.
