Kismayo (Cunaabi) Hurmud Telecommunication Company has started reconstructing some of the major roads in Kismayo. Most of the roads in Kismayo are not in good condition.

Reconstruction of the main road that links Kismayo town and the port began on Tuesday afternoon.

Abdifatah Hussein Osman who is one of Hurmud’s officials in Kismayo, said they have decided to repair the road network in the area after a serious of road accidents mainly caused by the poor conditions of the roads.

Abdifatah said that they will complete the reconstruction soon. He also hopes that accidents will decrease when the road network is improved.

Kismayo’s tarmaced roads were destroyed by the civil war in the 90s. Road repair has never been done since the collapse of Somalia’s last central government.
